Visiting researcher at RCSU is Samuel Briones Barrales from Utrecht University

From 17 October to 2 November 2023, the Research Center for Strategy and Governance at the Faculty for Social Sciences will host researcher Samuel Briones Barrales, PhD student at the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at Utrecht University.

Samuel is working on his PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mara Yerkes in the ERC CAPABLE project, a large international study on work-life balance policies in four European countries (Spain, Slovenia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom). Samuel's research focuses on work-life balance for employed informal carers.

As part of his visit to the FDV, Samuel will present his qualitative study on the life experiences of 55 informal male and female carers in eight cities from the aforementioned research countries at the Open Science Term on Monday 23 October 2023 at 14:00. Using a capability approach perspective, the research focuses on the negotiation of work-family (or other close) relationships, the perceived (un)fairness of work-care arrangements and the ways in which individuals ensure their change or stability.

We invite all researchers, students and others interested in the topic to attend the lecture, which will take place in the FDV-18 room at the Faculty.
