Andreja Jaklič about the Role of FDI in Slovenia's Global Strategic Breakthrough at the Management Congress in Portorož
Prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič gave a speech at the Management Congress in Portorož on 3 October 2025 and discussed opportunities for enhancing Slovenia’s global competitiveness with managers and policymakers attending the event. This year’s congress focused on finding solutions for Slovenia's global strategic breakthrough, building a favorable environment for the operation and development of the best talents, and leadership in the era of artificial intelligence, global change, and social uncertainty.
Prof. dr. Jaklič pointed out that Slovenia 2050 is connected to investments here and now, as foreign direct investments determine integration into global value chains, the transfer of technology and knowledge, and the development of the country’s own international companies.
She presented some of the most important cautions provided by foreign investors in the latest survey among foreign-owned firms in Slovenia. The study was conducted by prof. dr. Jaklič and assist. dr. Iris Koleša at the end of 2024. In her speech, prof. dr. Jaklič highlighted the decline in expansion plans among foreign investors in Slovenia, an increase in planning relocation of activities abroad, and changes in the strategic position of Slovenian entities in the networks of multinational companies compared to previous years.
