On 28 January 2026, UL FDV hosted a round table discussion entitled "Will AI replace or empower communicators in the public sector?". The discussion was part of the "Day of Public Sector Communicators – From Crises to Algorithms" event. Assist. prof. dr. Jana Arbeiter from CDELS in her role as Chair of the Program Council for Micro-Credentials and coordinator of lifelong learning development at UL emphasized the importance of lifelong learning (particularly micro-credentials) in light of increasingly rapid technological changes.

Chair of CDELS prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič was a speaker in AmCham's strategic discussion about the future of transatlantic relations titled “USA 250: Impact, Dominance or Partnership?”. Prof. dr. Udovič highlighted the challenges to business collaboration caused by the re-emergence of an era where politics precedes the economy and the gap between America as a society and American politics that often characterizes Europe’s – and Slovenia’s – relationship with the United States.

At the first constitutive meeting of the Program Council for Micro-Credentials at the University of Ljubljana for the 2026–2030 term, assist. prof. dr. Jana Arbeiter was re-elected as Chair of the said Program Council. During the second term, the Program Council will focus on consolidating the micro-credentials system, further developing quality standards, and strategically placing micro-credentials in the areas of lifelong learning, sustainable development, and cooperation with external stakeholders.

Assoc. prof. dr. Sabina Lange commented on the relations between the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) following US President Trump's attempts to take over Greenland for the informative program Odmevi on RTV Slovenia. She explained that President Trump had tried to divide and conquer tactic with his announcements about taking over Greenland by purchasing it, but had deepened EU's unity instead (warning that this unity is time-limited).

CDELS and EMUNI are preparing an international academic conference on 17 and 18 September 2026 entitled "Diplomacy 2.0: New Realities, New Agency, New Strategies". The event will take place in Koper, Slovenia. The conference addresses the profound transformation of contemporary diplomacy shaped by technological, geopolitical, and societal change. It provides a forum for scholars at all career stages and from multiple disciplines. We kindly invite you to submit an abstract by 17 February and join the discussions.
