The book Web Survey Methodology by dr. Mario Callegaro, dr. Vasja Vehovar and dr. Katja Lozar Manfreda, both from the Centre for Social Informatics, has reached a thousand citations in the Google Scholar database.

About the Centre

The Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), established in 2011, currently includes 33 researchers. The term Social informatics refers to the interaction between new information-communication technologies (ICT) and modern societies; general overview of Social Informatics can be found in Vehovar, Smutny, Bartol, 2022. Within this broad context of Social Informatics, CSI's activities mainly focus on the use of ICT as research tool in social sciences, web surveys, internet related risks (particularly among the youth) and the issues of digital inequality, eHealth and eCare (particularly among the elderly).

Researchers at CSI have undertaken numerous projects, from basic research to expertise for governmental bodies and enterprises. Recently, projects about digital inequalities, eCare, web survey methodology and privacy on the internet are particularly frequent. The CSI researchers strongly welcome international cooperation. Scientific excellency is also an important part of our mission, thus the CSI researchers publish in most prestigious journals and cooperate with globally leading scholars in their fields. Three of our biggest projects, which we have been carrying out for more than a decade, deserve a particular highlight in this regard: the Safer Internet Centre, the basic research program Internet Research and the web survey tool 1KA. The 1KA Panel has also been established within CSI.
