New article about socially unacceptable discourse on Facebook news portals

Vasja Vehovar, PhD, member of the Centre for Social Informatics, published an article together with Blaž Povž, Darja Fišer, PhD, Nikola Ljubešić, PhD, Ajda Šulc, Dejan Jontes, PhD. The article was published in Teorija in praksa and deals with the socially unacceptable discourse on Facebook news portals.

The authors focused on comments on the most visited Facebook news portals in Slovenia between 2010 and 2017. They have examined the socially unacceptable discourse on refugee crises and LGBT rights. The results show that the level of socially unacceptable discourse is high and stable, accounting for about half of all comments in both subject areas and on all revised media.
