Gregor Čehovin and Nejc Berzelak presented a paper on response quality at GOR 2020
Gregor Čehovin, Ph. D., and Nejc Berzelak, Ph. D., from the Centre for Social Informatics participated in the international conference General Online Research (GOR) 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was held online on September 10 and 11, 2020. They presented the paper “Designing Grid Questions in Smartphone Surveys: A Review of Current Practice and Data Quality Implications” in the session A.3.2 (Scales and Questions).
The paper is a systematic literature review and investigates response quality in grid questions in web surveys conducted on personal computers and mobile phones. The grid questions are analyzed with respect to indicators on satisficing, missing data, socially desirable answers, measurement quality, multitasking, response times, subjective survey evaluation and comparability between devices. In this context, the paper summarizes the response quality implications of different approaches to the design of grid questions in web surveys.
The conference GOR is organized annually by German Society for Online Research. Online research is an extremely innovative field, covering not only the classic areas of online research methods but also mobile and social media research.
