CSI hosted prof. Mick Couper from the University of Michigan
In December, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) hosted prof. Mick Couper from the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan. Prof. Couper is one of the leading experts in web survey methodology and the author of several books and numerous influential scientific papers in this field.
The main purpose of the visit was a working meeting of prof. Couper and researchers involved in the project Integration of mobile devices into survey research in social sciences. The participants discussed research designs to study the key issues of development of mobile web surveys. They have also agreed on the future research cooperation on this topic.
A part of the visit was devoted to an expert meeting of researchers from CSI, Statistical office of the Republic of Slovenia and National public health institute. Prof. Couper presented several studies related to combining survey data with automatically collected data from mobile phones and other devices. The presentation was followed by a discussion during which the participants exchanged experiences and issues encountered with such data collection in their research work.
