CSI hosted dr. Iolie Nicolaidou from Cyprus University of Technology

Within the Erasmus + mobility Programme the CSI hosted dr. Iolie Nicolaidou from Cyprus University of Technology, Department of Communication and Internet Studies.

During dr. Nicolaidou's visit, from 27. to 29. June 2017, the CSI researchers presented their research work and dr. Nicolaidou carried out the lecture »E-safety skills in a “one student: one tablet” school: Do primary students actually know how to protect themselves?«.

The other part of her visit was devoted to her education. The CSI researchers carried out a workshop about 1KA tool for conducting web surveys.

Dr. Iolie Nicolaidou is a faculty member at the Department of Communication and Internet Studies of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). She holds a Ph.D. degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. She has a Master’s degree in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University (2002) and a BA in Primary Education from the University of Cyprus (2000). She has 15 years of research experience on the design, implementation and evaluation of new media (e.g. web-based learning environments, serious games) to support formal and informal learning. Her most recent work focuses on the assessment of young children’s e-safety skills and on developing their e-safety skills through web-based learning environments. She has published more than 60 papers in international peer reviewed journals and proceedings of international conferences.
