CoE AgeCare Kick-Off Conference in Jyväskylä, Finland


From 29th to 31st of October Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare) International Kick-Off Conference took place in Jyväskylä, Finland.  CoE AgeCare conference was attended by Dr Simona Hvalič Touzery from the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI). The event consisted of the intensive workshops and a keynote session with the lead researchers in ageing and care: professor Anne Martin-Matthews (Canada), Dr Giovanni Lamura (Italy) and professor Britt Östlund (Sweden). The event was attendedy by 59 researchers from 21 countries from Europe, North America and Asia. During the event the activities within the CoE AgeCare Work Packages were discussed and the joint research collaboration planned.

CoE AgeCare project studies the transformation of ageing and care using novel conceptual and interdisciplinary perspectives, conjoining the analysis of diversification of everyday life to that of ongoing profound societal and policy change. CoE AgeCare is conducted by four different Research Groups (RGs) coming from the Universities of Jyväskylä, Tampere and Helsinki and in close collaboration with a broad network of leading international scholars. The CoE also functions as an international platform for researcher training of early career researchers. The Head of the CoE AgeCare is professor Teppo Kröger of Social and Public Policy, Uni Jyväskylä, Finland. The leader of RG4 ('New technologies, ageing and care') is Dr Sakari Taipale from the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Jyväskylä and a researcher in the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI).
