Book chapter in a book on social informatics: Social informatics thematic-methodological framework
Researchers from the Centre for Social Informatics, Dr. Zdeněk Smutný, Dr. Vasja Vehovar, and Jošt Bartol, published a book chapter titled “Social informatics thematic-methodological framework” as part of the book “Social Informatics”.
The chapter follows the international understanding of social informatics, according to which there are several approaches or schools of social informatics. By looking for similarities between the different schools, the paper describes the basic thematic and methodological aspects of social informatics, integrating them into an overarching thematic-methodological framework. The latter describes and links a wide range of scientific areas, research approaches, scientific methods of reasoning, methods, and themes that are characteristic of social informatics research. In addition to describing the research field of social informatics, the framework also allows scholars to situate their own research within this field. At the same time, it can act as a means for unifying social informatics, which has recently faced challenges in establishing itself as its own scientific discipline.
