Another article by Sakari Taipale, PhD in the journal Information, Communication & Society
Sakari Taipale, PhD, a member of the Centre for Social Informatics, together with Riitta Haenninen, Laura Pajula, Viivi Korpela published an article "Individual and shared digital repertoires - older adults managing digital services" in the journal Information, Communication & Society. The authors examine "incentives and limitations associated with the use of non-recreational digital services, which either encourage or discourage older adults to use them." They also focused on "how older adults in this study manage those non-recreational digital services."
For the purpose of the qualitative research, 21 interviews were conducted with older adults between the ages of 65 and 89 at Central Finland. The results show that there are "conflicting views about digital services - they simultaneously evoke both positive and negative associations among interviewees".
