In November 2019, the Smart Living Forum 2019 took place in Villach, Austria. In May 2020, the proceedings of the event have been published, including the results of two intervention studies by members of Center for Social Informatics.

New scientific article in Sociological Methods & Research
When comparing social science phenomena through a time perspective, absolute and relative difference are the two typical presentation formats used to communicate interpretations to the audience, while time distance is the least frequently used of such formats. The article of Dr. Katja Prevodnik and Prof. Dr. Vasja Vehovar addresses the issue of basic comparative measures and argues that the chosen presentation format is extremely important because the various formats suggest different substantive interpretations.

The article "Robot acceptance model for care (RAM-care): A principled approach to the intention to use care robots" was coauthored by Tuuli Turja, Lino Aaltonen and Atte Oksanen.

A new article published in IEEE Access
Mobile and ubiquitous technologies represent a huge opportunity for an empowered inclusion of older adults in digital societies. Nevertheless, many of smart technologies demand high level of digital literacy and skills in order to become fully operational for the end-users. In order to study and design effective interventions aimed to increase the engagement of older adults with smart and mobile technologies, valid measurement tools for assessment of users’ skills are needed.

With the reference to the theory of digital inequality, the article explores the forms of internet access among Slovenian Internet users and the factors that influence the adoption and frequency of the usage of various forms of internet access.

New article: Predictors of Seniors’ Interest in Assistive Applications on Smartphones
Dr. Andraž Petrovčič and Dr. Vesna Dolničar (co-authored by Dr. Sebatiaan Peek, University of Tilburg) published the article “Predictors of Seniors’ Interest in Assistive Applications on Smartphones: Evidence from a Population-Based Survey in Slovenia”. It has been published with the financial support of the Slovenian Research Agency and belongs to a special issue “Quality of Life: The Interplay between Human Behaviour, Technology and the Environment” in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
