ITHACA Kick-Off: Exploring best policy settings for Smart Health and Care Solutions
The ITHACA kick off meeting will take place on 25th October in Eindhoven back to back with Dutch Design Week. The ITHACA project is about nine EU regions that join forces to share experiences and good practices on smart health and care innovation, with the aim to improve active and healthy ageing of the population.

Members of Centre for Social Informatics participated at GETM3 Slovenia Sandpit No 3
Assoc. Prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda and Gregor Čehovin participated at GETM3 Slovenia Sandpit No 3. GETM3 is an international, interdisciplinary research and innovation project funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 stream. It is aimed at improving employability of global talents and talent management practices to support economic development. University of Ljubljana, one of the project partners, organized the 3rd researchers’ gathering, referred to as Sandpit, between 19 and 22 September 2017.

Recently concluded projects
In 2017, we successfully concluded several national projects and tenders. Vasja Vehovar, PhD, and Vesna Dolničar, PhD, were leaders of two research projects that started in July 2014 and ended in June 2017, financed by the Slovenian Research Agency. This year we have also conducted a study for Eurostat Better data to assess the impact of ICT, R&D and Innovation on the economy and evaluation of the self-employment measure of active employment policy in the period 2007-2013.

Web Survey Day 2017
Since 2012, members of CSI have organised the Web Survey Day event that has over 200 attendees each year. The target audience is the professional public as well as other web survey users who are interested in advances and trends in the field of web survey methodology.

Seventh conference on the topic of child abuse on the internet
Members of the Centre for Social Informatics coordinate the hotline, Spletno oko, which enables internet users to anonymously report hate speech and images of child sexual abuse found on the internet. Working in close cooperation with the police, internet service providers (ISPs), and other governmental and non-governmental organisations in Slovenia, the main mission of Spletno oko is to reduce the number of images of child sexual abuse and online hate speech.

Second EEPE event of the Interreg Europe project ITHACA
On 12th and 13th of September the second of nine Exchange of Experience and Peer Evaluation (EEPE) events took place in Danish city of Slagelse (Region Zealand). EEPE was attended by Mojca Šetinc from the Centre for Social Informatics, and representative of the stakeholders – Gregor Cuzak from Slovenian Medical Informatics Association (SDMI).

New projects in 2017
In 2017, we started to implement three important international projects. In January was launched the Interreg Europe project InnovaTion in Health And Care for All (ITHACA), in February Interreg Danube project Excellence in research, social and technological innovation project management (Re-STI) and in July JUST project Cyber Violence and Harassment against Women and Girls (CYBERVAW).

Visiting researchers at CSI
Since 2011, when CSI was established, we have hosted several leading survey methodologists. In 2012 Mick Couper, PhD, a world-leading expert on web surveys from University of Michigan, attended the 1st Web Survey Day, where he participated in the introductory part and answered the questions about the general state of web surveys worldwide.
