In December, the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) hosted Prof. Mick Couper from the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan. Prof. Couper is one of the leading experts in web survey methodology and the author of several books and numerous influential scientific papers in this field.

Faculty of Social Sciences hosted Assoc. Prof. Maria Prosperina Vitale, Ph. D., and doctoral student Pierluigi Vitale from University of Salerno (Italy) between December 12 and 14. Prof. Vitale visited the faculty within the Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility programme, in cooperation with the Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology, Centre for Social Informatics and Centre for Methodology and Informatics.

The Innovation and Social Learning in Higher Education Institutions (ISOLearn) project was recognised as an example of ​good practice in the Erasmus+ programme. The project started on 1 October 2014 and ended on 30 September 2016. During the project, guidelines were designed to promote equal opportunities and improve the quality of the higher education offerings to hearing- and visually impaired people.

The annual conference of the Slovenian ECHAlliance ecosystem was held in Ljubljana on December 6 2017. Main aim of the conference was to connect relevant stakeholders in the field of healthcare in a way that enables the implementation of the projects aimed at improving health and quality of life for all, as well as creating new opportunities for employees and companies in the health sector.

On 4 December 2017, member of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) Vesna Dolničar PhD received recognition for outstanding achievements in promoting the internationalisation of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Vesna Dolničar is an active researcher in the field of assistive technologies among the elderly and caregivers, with an emphasis on usage and needs research related to e-Health and e-Care.

The opening event of the EU project ‘Click-off! Stop cyber violence against women and girls’ was held at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) on 23 November. The project, which addresses cyber violence and harassment of girls and women, is co-financed by the EC Directorate – General Justice and Consumers and coordinated by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the Republic of Slovenia, in cooperation with the CSI, the Ministry of the Interior – Police and the Ministry of Justice – Judicial Training Centre.

Katja Lozar Manfred, PhD is co-author of the article "Mode comparison study on willingness to buy and willingness to pay for organic foods: paper-and-pencil versus computerized questionnaire", published in the Electronic Commerce Research journal.

We are happy to announce that the third SERISS training course “Measurement quality and correction for measurement error” will be held on 26-27 February 2018 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The course will be instructed by: Diana Zavala-Rojas and Wiebke Weber from Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology (RECSM), Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Andraž Petrovčič from the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) participated at the 40th Social Policy Conference, held 26.-27. October 2017 at the University of Jyväskylä, Jyväskylä, Finland.
