Launch of the Active and Assistive Living (AAL) project ‘i-evAALution – integrating and evaluating AAL solutions’
Representatives from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), took part in the kick-off meeting of the Active and Assistive Living (AAL) programme: ‘i-evAALution – integrating and evaluating AAL solutions’ project, which was held in Utrecht on 20 April 2018. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration of the Republic of Slovenia. The lead partner on the project is the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

Vesna Dolničar participated in the International Society of Gerontechnology’s 11th World Conference
Member of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), Assoc. Prof. Vesna Dolničar PhD participated in the International Society of Gerontechnology’s 11th World Conference of Gerontechnology, which was held May 7–11 in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. During the conference, internationally recognised experts in gerontechnology shared their knowledge and experiences through lectures, symposia, workshops, papers and posters.

CSI researchers organised a symposium on ICT & Ageing at 24th Nordic Congress of Gerontechnology
Andraž Petrovčič PhD, Darja Grošelj PhD and Vesna Dolničar PhD organised a thematic symposium at the 24th Nordic Congress of Gerontology, 2-4 May 2018, in Oslo, Norway. The symposium, ‘Gradations of digital inclusion in later life: A multi-cultural perspective’, provided new insights into the interrelations between various aspects of ageing and their association with the (non-)use of information and communication technology (ICT) in later life.

Statistical data about EU
Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology hosted lecturers from the Slovenian national Statistical office. This was an event within the Europe Week at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. The lecturers presented students within the course of Statistics some very interesting statistical data on the life in Europe.

Guest lectures by Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak from the ZPID (University of Trier)
On April 25 and 26, the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), in cooperation with the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Statistics and the Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology of the Faculty of Social Sciences, hosted Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak, director of the ZPID (Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information) in Trier, Germany, and full professor at the University of Trier.

Kick-off meeting of the ‘Hate speech on online social networks in Slovenia’ project
Representatives of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) coordinated the kick-off meeting of the ‘Social networks and communication of hate’ project in Ljubljana on 11 April 2018. Partner organisations of the project are the Institute of Criminology and the Peace Institute. The project leader is Dr. Vasja Vehovar.

Darja Grošelj, PhD has co-authored a chapter in a monograph published by Routledge
Darja Grošelj, PhD, member of the Centre for the Social Informatics (CSI) at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, has published a chapter entitled Digital Divides, Usability, and Social Inclusion: Evidence From the Field of E-Services in the United Kingdom in a monograph Social Inclusion and Usability of ICT-Enabled Services. The chapter was co-authored by Bianca C. Reisdorf, PhD.

The latest scientific publications of the CSI members
Members of the Centre for the Social Informatics (CSI), Andraž Petrovčič, PhD and Vesna Dolničar, PhD, co-authored four original scientific articles, published in three reputable journals (Computers in human behavior, International journal of human-computer interaction and Telematics and informatics) in 2017 and 2018, and one chapter in a monograph published by Routledge in 2018. Among the co-authors of the contributions are also CSI members Darja Grošelj, PhD, and Sakari Taipale, PhD.

Fourth EEPE event of the Interreg Europe project ITHACA
On 21st and 22nd of March the fourth of nine Exchange of Experience and Peer Evaluation (EEPE) events took place in Spain city of Bilbao (Basque Country). EEPE was attended by Vesna Dolničar and Mojca Šetinc from the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), and two representatives of the stakeholders – Drago Rudel from MKS, enterprise specialized in telecare solutions, and Anita Jacović from Ministry of Health.

Kaja Smole Orehek attended the SMARTER LIVES 2018 that took place in Innsbruck, Austria on 20th of February 2018. SMARTER LIVES international conference aims to contribute to the scientific discussion in the field of smart technologies for an ageing society and Active and Assisted Living (AAL).
