CSI hosted dr. Bianca C. Reisdorf from the Michigan State University
From 21-23 May 2018 the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) hosted dr. Bianca C. Reisdorf from Department of Media and Information and Quello Center, Michigan State University. Dr. Reisdorf is one of the most promising young researchers in the field of new technologies and society, focusing primarily on research into digital inequalities. Her articles have been published in leading scientific journals such as New Media & Society and Information, Communication & Society.

iha Matjašič, Vasja Vehovar, PhD and Katja Lozar Manfreda, PhD members of the Centre for the Social Informatics (CSI) at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, published an article entitled »Web Survey Paradata on Response Time Outliers: A Systematic Literature Review« in the scientific journal Metodološki zvezki.

Launch of the Active and Assistive Living (AAL) project ‘i-evAALution – integrating and evaluating AAL solutions’
Representatives from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), took part in the kick-off meeting of the Active and Assistive Living (AAL) programme: ‘i-evAALution – integrating and evaluating AAL solutions’ project, which was held in Utrecht on 20 April 2018. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration of the Republic of Slovenia. The lead partner on the project is the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

Vesna Dolničar participated in the International Society of Gerontechnology’s 11th World Conference
Member of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), Assoc. Prof. Vesna Dolničar PhD participated in the International Society of Gerontechnology’s 11th World Conference of Gerontechnology, which was held May 7–11 in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. During the conference, internationally recognised experts in gerontechnology shared their knowledge and experiences through lectures, symposia, workshops, papers and posters.

CSI researchers organised a symposium on ICT & Ageing at 24th Nordic Congress of Gerontechnology
Andraž Petrovčič PhD, Darja Grošelj PhD and Vesna Dolničar PhD organised a thematic symposium at the 24th Nordic Congress of Gerontology, 2-4 May 2018, in Oslo, Norway. The symposium, ‘Gradations of digital inclusion in later life: A multi-cultural perspective’, provided new insights into the interrelations between various aspects of ageing and their association with the (non-)use of information and communication technology (ICT) in later life.

Statistical data about EU
Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology hosted lecturers from the Slovenian national Statistical office. This was an event within the Europe Week at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. The lecturers presented students within the course of Statistics some very interesting statistical data on the life in Europe.

Guest lectures by Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak from the ZPID (University of Trier)
On April 25 and 26, the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), in cooperation with the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Statistics and the Chair of Social Informatics and Methodology of the Faculty of Social Sciences, hosted Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak, director of the ZPID (Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information) in Trier, Germany, and full professor at the University of Trier.
