Dr. Sakari Taipale's book: "Intergenerational Connections in Digital Families"
Dr. Sakari Taipale, a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Social Informatics, University of Ljubljana, whose primary position is at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, has written a book Intergenerational Connections in Digital Families. The book illustrates how everyday family life gets digitalized in three European countries. It looks into the relationships between different generations from the technology use perspective in Finland, Italy and Slovenia. The Slovenian data was gathered with help of the student and Associete Professor Vesna Dolničar at FDV.

Guest lectures of prof. dr. Michael Bosnjak from ZPID, University of Trier
Centre for Social Informatics (CDI) hosted prof. dr. Michael Bosnjak (director of ZPID - Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information and Full Professor at the University of Trier) on April 17 and 18 in cooperation with University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Prof. Bosnjak gave a series of lectures on meta-analysis within the course New developments in statistics (University of Ljubljana’s interdisciplinary doctoral program of Statistics). Visit at the University of Salerno
Doc. dr. Andraž Petrovčič from the Centre for Social Informatics at Faculty of Social Sciences was, by invitation of prof. dr. Maria Prosperina Vitale, a guest at University of Salerno from 10th to 13th March 2019. There, he prepared a lecture for postgraduate students at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences entitled »Personal and Contextual factors of proxy internet use among older adults: Has a decade of Internet usage growth changed the role of intergenerational family ties?«.

i-evAALution consortium meeting in Bolzano
A two-day i-evAALution consortium meeting (AAL project) took place on March 28 and 29, 2019 in Bolzano, Italy, along the important milestones of the project. The integration and development of the i-evAALution bundle is in its final phase, and a heuristic evaluation of the bundle is planned.

Assoc. prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda among the nominees at the Mentor of the year event
On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana hosted the event for the Mentor of the year 2018 prize. The event was organized for the 10th consecutive year and is intended for the best mentors of doctoral students. Among the nominees for the prize was also assoc. prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda, PhD, from the Centre for Social Informatics. Under her mentoring, Gregor Čehovin successfully completed the training of a young researcher.

CYBERSAFE kick off meeting
Representative of the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, dr. Barbara Brečko, participated at the kick off meeting of the CYBERSAFE project (Changing Attitudes among teenagers on Cyber Violence against Women and Girls) co-financed by EC DG JUST, which took place in Heraklion (Greece) between 11th and 13th of February.

Prof. dr. Vasja Vehovar received Blejec award of the Statistical Society of Slovenia in 2018
Prof. dr. Vasja Vehovar, head of the Centre for Social Informatics, is the recipient of Blejec award of the Statistical Society of Slovenia in 2018. The awards ceremony took place on 12 February 2019 as part of the Statistical Day 2019. Prof. dr. Vasja Vehovar shares his knowledge with numerous Slovenian institutions dealing with the collection of statistical data. He is responsible for the project of student evaluation surveys at the University of Ljubljana and through the work on the 1KA online survey tool, he also spreads statistical and methodological knowledge to many commercial companies and educators.

Guest lectures of prof. dr. Mick Couper from the University of Michigan
Centre for Social Informatics hosted prof. dr. Mick Couper (University of Michigan) between January 28-30, 2019. On Monday, prof. dr. Couper presented his current research in the field of mobile applications and voice capture of data in a lecture attended by students of the second level of Social Informatics and employees from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the National Institute of Public Health, and the commercial sector.
