A series of meetings was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences from May 29 to June 4 between Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) and The Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research (SNI), University of Haifa, Israel, for the purpose of cooperation on the bilateral project "Digital transformation of quantitative data collection in social science research: Integrating survey data collection with big data and paradata for identifying social behaviour".

Asist. Miha Matjašič, Gregor Čehovin, PhD and Jernej Berzelak, PhD from the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) attended the American Association for Public Opinion Research’s (AAPOR) 74st Annual Conference. The conference took place in Toronto, Canada, from 16th to 19th May 2019. This is one of the main global symposia in the field of survey methodology and survey public opinion.

Andraž Petrovčič, PhD attended The 69th Annual International Communication Association Conference, held in Washington, DC, between 24th and 28th May 2019. In the Communication and Technology Interactive Poster Session he presented the study entitled “A Cross-Sectional Study Comparing the Role of Intergenerational Family Ties in Internet Non-Users’ Access to Online Services in 2009 and 2018”.

Centre for Social Informatics (CDI) hosted prof. dr. Michael Bosnjak (director of ZPID - Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information and Full Professor at the University of Trier) on April 17 and 18 in cooperation with University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Prof. Bosnjak gave a series of lectures on meta-analysis within the course New developments in statistics (University of Ljubljana’s interdisciplinary doctoral program of Statistics). Maria Prosperina Vitale, a guest at University of Salerno from 10th to 13th March 2019. There, he prepared a lecture for postgraduate students at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences entitled »Personal and Contextual factors of proxy internet use among older adults: Has a decade of Internet usage growth changed the role of intergenerational family ties?«.
i-evAALution consortium meeting in Bolzano

A two-day i-evAALution consortium meeting (AAL project) took place on March 28 and 29, 2019 in Bolzano, Italy, along the important milestones of the project. The integration and development of the i-evAALution bundle is in its final phase, and a heuristic evaluation of the bundle is planned.
Assoc. prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda among the nominees at the Mentor of the year event

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana hosted the event for the Mentor of the year 2018 prize. The event was organized for the 10th consecutive year and is intended for the best mentors of doctoral students. Among the nominees for the prize was also assoc. prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda, PhD, from the Centre for Social Informatics. Under her mentoring, Gregor Čehovin successfully completed the training of a young researcher.
