Guest lectures of prof. dr. Mick Couper from the University of Michigan
Centre for Social Informatics hosted prof. dr. Mick Couper (University of Michigan) between January 28-30, 2019. On Monday, prof. dr. Couper presented his current research in the field of mobile applications and voice capture of data in a lecture attended by students of the second level of Social Informatics and employees from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the National Institute of Public Health, and the commercial sector.

Bilateral meeting of the IARA and CSI within the COOP4HEALTHCARE project
On Wednesday, January 16, the representatives of the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Tomaž Burnik, assoc. prof. Vesna Dolničar, PhD, assist. prof. Simona Hvalič Touzery, PhD, assist. prof. Andraž Petrovčič, PhD, Kaja Smole Orehek and Mojca Šetinc visited Institute for Applied Research on Ageing (IARA) at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.

Gregor Čehovin successfully completed doctoral studies
Gregor Čehovin, a member of Centre for Social Informatics, successfully completed doctoral programme in the Humanities and Social Sciences and the young researcher training financed by Slovenian Research Agency. He successfully defended the doctoral thesis addressed "The contribution of meta-analysis to knowledge on survey research operations on nonresponse".

Extension of Internet research programme funding
Centre for Social Informatics has been awarded a six-year (2019-2024) funding by the Slovenian Research Agency to continue the centre’s research with Internet Research programme leaded by prof. Vasja Vehovar, PhD. The research programme deals with the integration of Internet technologies into all domains of everyday life and studies Internet as research object and as a tool for social science research.

Participation in a consultation hosted by the President of Slovenia
Coordinator of the hotline Spletno oko (Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za družbene vede, Center za družboslovno informatiko) Andrej Motl participated at the event on freedom of speech and hate speech, hosted by Slovenian president Borut Pahor at the Presidential palace in Ljubljana on December 13th 2018. With the intention of exchanging expert opinions regarding current regulation of this field and understanding appropriate distinction between freedom of speech and hate speech, the president invited 16 experts from various fields to the event.

Dr. Petrovčič attended the CREATE workshop in Frankfurt
Andraž Petrovčič, Ph.D, from the Centre for Social Informatics attended the CREATE workshop »Designing for Older Adults« which took place at the Goethe Universität Frankfurt, 6-7 December 2018. The workshop instructors Prof. Sara Czaja (Director of CREATE), Prof. Walter Boot, Prof. Neil Charness, PhD, and Prof. Wendy Rogers are members of the Center for Research and Education on Aging and Technology Enhancement (CREATE).

Launch of CYBERSAFE project
In December 2018, the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) launched the Cybersafe project, co-finaced by EC DG JUST/REC (REC-RDAP-GBV-AG-2017). The project brings together 9 partners from 8 different European countries to work on an emerging and not fully investigated aspect of gender violence, namely cyber violence against woman and girls.

Participation in a round table of PPI2Innovate project
Member of Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) assoc. prof. Vesna Dolničar, PhD, participated in a round table on the topic of planning public procurement of innovative solutions in the fields of healthcare, energy and ICT. The roundtable which was held on Thursday, November 22, in Ljubljana, was a part of Interreg Central Europe PPI2Innovate project.

Second project meeting of COOP4HEALTHCARE project
Representatives of the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Mojca Šetinc and Tomaž Burnik, participated at the second project partner meeting of the Interreg V-A Slovenia-Austria project COOP4HEALTHCARE (Cross-sectoral Alliances for Smart Healthcare Solutions), which took place in Pinkafeld (Austria) on November 23.
