Poster presentation at the GSA 2020 conference: Telemedicine intervention on patients with chronic conditions
The research group working on the project Understanding and analysis of users’ needs for the development of e-services for integrated social and health care in the aging society attended the virtual annual conference of The Gerontological Society of America. They presented a poster with the results of an intervention study on the use of a telemedicine system among patients with chronic diseases in Slovenia.

Start of the Erasmus+ project coordination
At UL, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics we have initiated the coordination of the Erasmus+ project. The project "Building teachers competence about cyber violence against girls" (CYBERVAG MOOC) is coordinated by the researcher Barbara Brečko, PhD. The project involves six other partners from five European countries (Greece, Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia and United Kingdom).

Conclusion of the project Digital transformation of quantitative data collection in social science research
The bilateral project “Digital transformation of quantitative data collection in social science research: Integrating survey data collection in social science research: Integrating survey data collection with big data and paradata for identifying social behaviour" took place from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2020, with participation of the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) and the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research (SNI), Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel.

Mutual learning online regional conference on good practices and lessons learned regarding countering hate speech online
The ‘Mutual learning regional conference on good practices and lessons learned from countering hate speech online’, which was organised online between 14th and 15th October 2020, presented good practices, lessons learned and developments in combating hate speech online. It brought together experts and practitioners from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia and also experts from other EU Member States. The aim of the conference was to contribute to the mutual learning in this important field.

Kick-off meeting of the project D-CARE
On October 1 and 9, 2020, the kick-off meeting of the project D-CARE (Interreg Danube), which started on July 1, 2020, was held. Due to the epidemiological situation, the meeting was moved online. During the meeting, the partners of the project, led by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Iuliu Hateganu" from the Romanian city Cluj Napoca, presented the work of their organizations and learned more about the activities of the project D-CARE.

First European Carers Day
On 6 October we are celebrating the first European Carers Day. In different languages we are sending the same message: Informal carers are unpaid carers. They are essential for sustainability of long-term care. They deserve better support!

The web survey day 2020 was held online
On 30 September 2020, the Centre for Social Informatics, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences organized the Web Survey Day (WSD) for the ninth time. The event is intended for the general professional public users of online survey tools and users of online survey tool 1KA. This time the event took place in a slightly different form, as we conducted our workshops and lectures through the ZOOM platform.

Workshop on mixed-mode surveys 2020 held at FDV
The Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) organised the traditional annual Workshop on mixed mode surveys, which took place on 23 September 2020 from 9.00 to 13.00. It was attended by researchers from CSI, Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the National Institute of Public Health and academic sector to exchange the results in the field of web and mixed mode surveys. The event was organised and led by prof. Vasja Vehovar, PhD.

Democratic forum on assessing eligibility for long-term care
In September 2020, Centre for Social Informatics in cooperation with Social Protection Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, organised a democratic forum on the eligibility assessment for long-term care as part of the project on evaluation of long-term care. The members of the project group are testing a new assessment instrument and new criteria for eligibility for long-term care in Slovenia, as defined in the proposal of the new Long-Term Care Act (currently under public discussion).

Gregor Čehovin and Nejc Berzelak presented a paper on response quality at GOR 2020
Gregor Čehovin, Ph. D., and Nejc Berzelak, Ph. D., from the Centre for Social Informatics participated in the international conference General Online Research (GOR) 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was held online on September 10 and 11, 2020. They presented the paper “Designing Grid Questions in Smartphone Surveys: A Review of Current Practice and Data Quality Implications” in the session A.3.2 (Scales and Questions).
