Project ”Tackling gender based cyberviolence among adolescent girls and young women” (TRACeD) launched

The Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) launched the "TRACeD" project in March under the CERV-2021- DAPHNE call for proposals. The project aims to combat gender-based cyber violence against adolescent girls and young women. In addition to Slovenia, partners from Greece, Italy and Cyprus are also involved.

The special issue of Acta Informatica Pragensia, the main editor is dr. Vasja Vehovar

Dr. Vasja Vehovar, head of the Centre for Social Informatics, was the main editor of the special issue of Acta Informatica Pragensia entitled "Perspectives of Social Informatics". Members of the editorial board also included Zdenek Smutny of Prague University of Economics and Business and Alice R. Robbin of Indiana University. Together, they also published an editorial article titled "What is Social Informatics from an International Perspective?".

New scientific publication “Item Nonresponse in Web Versus Other Survey Modes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”

Gregor Čehovin, PhD, assoc. prof. Katja Lozar Manfreda, PhD (Centre for Social Informatics) and prof. Michael Bosnjak, PhD (Robert Koch Institute and University of Trier) have jointly published a scientific article entitled “Item Nonresponse in Web Versus Other Survey Modes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”.

The CSI micro-workshop on ICT and Ageing

The Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) and the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare, University of Jyväskylä - JYU) from Finland hosted a virtual micro-workshop on ICT & Ageing on January 19, 2022. The event was organised by Dr. Andraž Petrovčič and Dr. Sakari Taipale, from JYU.

Jošt Bartol, Dr. Vasja Vehovar and Dr. Andraž Petrovčič, members of the Centre for Social Informatics, published a review article entitled “Information privacy concerns on the internet: Conceptual foundations and research challenges” in the journal Teorija in praksa.

Project “Evaluating probability and nonprobability online panels”

The project entitled “Evaluating probability and nonprobability online panels” was launched by Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) in September 2021. The project is financed by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) for the period of three years and is classified as a basic project. The leader of the project is prof. Vasja Vehovar, PhD.

Dr. Sakari Taipale published a new article in the International Journal of Social Robotics

Dr. Sakari Taipale, a member of the Centre for Social Informatics, has published a new article in the International Journal of Social Robotics. In the article “Positive Turn in Elder-Care Workers" Views Toward Telecare Robots” the survey data from 2020 Finnish elderly care workers is presented.

Dr. Sakari Taipale of the University of Jyväskylä and member of the Centre for Social Informatics at UL, Faculty of Social Sciences, has published a chapter "Digital skills and application use among Finnish home care workers in the eldercare sector" in the monograph "Digital transformations in care for older people."

Workshop on mixed-mode surveys 2021

The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), held its traditional workshop on mixed-mode surveys on 1 December 2021. The event was attended by colleagues from CSI, the Public Opinion and Mass Communication Research Centre of UL FSS, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and the National Institute of Public Health to share insights in the field of online and mixed surveys. The event was organised and moderated by Prof. Dr. Vasja Vehovar.

Dr. Vasja Vehovar, a member of the Centre for Social Informatics, and Dr. Dejan Jontes, from the Research Centre for the Terminology of Social Sciences and Journalism, have published an article "Hateful and Other Negative Communication in Online Commenting Environments: Content, Structure and Targets" in the journal Acta Informatica Pragensia.
