Research on healthcare providers’ and women’s attitudes towards the planned changes in the ZORA programme

At the 15th ZORA Day, the annual professional meeting of Slovenia’s national cervical cancer screening programme, held on 25 May 2026 at Brdo pri Kranju, Dr. Sara Atanasova from the Centre for Methodology and Informatics (CMI) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, participated as a speaker.

In her presentation, she shared the results of a study examining healthcare providers’ and women’s attitudes towards the planned changes in the ZORA programme. The study was conducted within the framework of the Cancer Screening Awareness in Slovenia – Communication Strategy (ICSIS) project, funded by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a specialized agency of the World Health Organization (WHO).

As part of the project, CMI collaborates with Slovenian cancer screening programmes to develop communication strategies that support effective communication with both professional and general audiences regarding changes in cancer screening. This year’s ZORA Day focused on presenting the scientific evidence underpinning the planned upgrade of the programme’s screening policy, which will introduce important changes to cervical cancer screening in the coming years.
