Jana Arbeiter Appointed Chair of the Program Council for Lifelong Learning and Micro-credentials at the University of Ljubljana

Assist. prof. dr. Jana Arbeiter from CIR was appointed as the Chair of the Program Council for Lifelong Learning and Micro-credentials at the University of Ljubljana (UL) at the Council’s constitutive meeting on 13 December 2023.

The tasks of the Program Council include:

  • monitoring the introduction of micro-credentials,
  • accreditation of teaching programs for obtaining micro-credentials,
  • analysis of efficiency/responsiveness/good practices,
  • directing the development of the micro-credentials’ training system,
  • integrating content,
  • ensuring the overall plan of UL's mission related to lifelong learning,
  • member visits and mutual learning/professional development as well as
  • consulting, approval of work programs and annual reporting.

Micro-credentials are records of specific learning outcomes (i.e. knowledge and skills acquired) that an individual achieves through learning on a smaller scale (that is in a short period of time). They are awarded by a trusted institution based on clearly defined standards and verification criteria (CPI, 2022; UNESCO, 2022).

The University of Ljubljana is introducing the system of micro-credentials as part of its project for a sustainable society ULTRA. The latter is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the European Union - NextGenerationEU.
