Consultation About the Challenges Related to Researchers' Career Development in Slovenia
On 28 January, the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana (FDV UL) hosted a consultation with researchers, policy makers, representatives of interest groups and other actors from the field of scientific research in Slovenia. The consultation was focused on the challenges related to researchers' career development in Slovenia.
The event was organised by the Centre for International Relations (CIR) at FDV UL and the Institute for Economic Research (IER) as part of the 'The state and development of the career system for researchers in Slovenia according to the recommendations of the Council of the European Union and the OECD' project.
After an opening speech by the vice-dean for research at FDV UL prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič, prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič from CIR presented the aims of the project and outlined the state of the career system for researchers in Slovenia. This was followed by group discussions, where participants shared their views on the challenges of researchers’ career development in Slovenia and also highlighted some good practices. The initial results from the discussions were then shared in a final plenary session.
We would like to kindly thank the attendees for their invaluable contributions to the discussion. If you were unable to attend the event or would like to share additional experiences about researchers’ career development opportunities and deficiencies in Slovenia with the project team, you can send your observations to prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič via e-mail (bostjan.udovic@fdv.uni-lj.si).
