Call for participation at the Conference: Political Power, Resistance, and the (Im)possibility of Alliances (December 9, 2025, FDV)

We cordially invite you to the conference Political Power, Resistance and the (Im)Possibility of Alliances, which will be held on December 9, 2025 at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The Slovenian Political Science Day, organized by the Slovenian Political Science Association and the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, will take place this year on December 9, 2024, in Ljubljana at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The third decade of the second millennium is marked by a sequence of crises that deeply reshape both the substance and the functioning of political power and political processes. The influence of technological, economic, and social changes, the emergence of new political movements—both reactionary and revolutionary—and the crisis of the international liberal order together sketch a new political reality that increasingly eludes existing conceptual frameworks of political thought. In a time marked by a so-called polycrisis, it is necessary to rethink the fundamental premises of the political: what power is today, how it functions both on the micro level within nation-states, and on the level of the international order. This year’s political science conference will therefore focus on questions related to the forms of political power, the contradictions of the present era, forms of resistance, and the (im)possibility of forging political alliances.

We invite all interested researchers, educators, doctoral candidates, undergraduate and postgraduate students, civil society organizations, and members of the Alumni FDV and UL to contribute to the event with their papers. We particularly welcome theoretical reflections and empirical research as well as critical, interdisciplinary and reflective approaches to the topic.

More information about the conference program can be found at SPD25_CFP-ANG.

Participation in the conference is free of charge!
