Boštjan Udovič at a Round Table about the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2021


The Faculty of Public Administration at the University of Ljubljana organised a round table about the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2021 on 11 January 2022. At the event, assoc. prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič from the Centre of International Relations (Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana) attributed the success of the second Slovenian presidency to the lessons learnt during the presidency in 2007, the diligence of Slovenian diplomats throughout the presidency, and good collaboration between the presidency, the European Commission and the Slovenian Members of the European Parliament. He also stressed that Slovenia needs to capitalize on the knowledge, skills and networks developed during the presidency by engaging prospective staff in further policy making at Slovenian and European levels.

The discussion was led by dr. Bruno Nikolić from the Faculty of Public Administration. Other discussants included dr. Jerneja Jug Jerše, Head of European Commission Representation Slovenia, Barbara Sušnik, Director General for EU Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, and mag. Gregor Štajer, Head of the Secretariat for the Coordination of Preparations, Logistics and Implementation of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
