Across Europe, thousands of children and young people care for sick, disabled, or addicted family members, often in silence and without recognition. Young carers represent a vulnerable and often overlooked group whose needs are frequently ignored in public policies.

The aim of the international project OUR VOICES is to make young carers visible, valued and involved in shaping policies that affect their lives, at local, national and European level. The project strengthens their participation, develops new tools and strategies for support, advocates for inclusive policies, and shares good practices among EU countries.

The project directly contributes to the achievement of the third sustainable development goal (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being), as it draws attention to the psychosocial distress of young carers and promotes the development of support mechanisms for their well-being. At the same time, it also follows goal 10 (SDG 10: Reduced inequalities), as it promotes greater social recognition, equal opportunities, and the inclusion of neglected groups of children and young people in Europe.
