After graduating in Chinese Studies from the University of Ljubljana, Maja decided to combine her knowledge and experience of Asia with social sciences. She got her MA in International Studies from National Chengchi University (Taiwan), and is currently working towards an MA in Chinese Studies back at her alma mater.
Her work experience is a mix of political risk analysis and policy research, both within the government and private sectors. During her time in Taiwan, she spent 6 months interning at the EU delegation in Taiwan, and contributed to Horizon Intelligence's political risk database. More recently she started working at the British Embassy in Ljubljana, where she's supporting the Embassy's engagement with the Slovene government and civil society.
Her research interests include Chinese domestic and foreign policy, with regional focus on the EU and Western Balkans, and Taiwan's engagement with the international community.
Maja joined the EARL's International Research Unit in November 2018.
