- Postgraduate Programme of Sociology
The course informs students about various theoretical approaches within the studies of everyday life; the issues are systematically addressed: from understanding the role of social interaction in everyday personal communication, presentation of self in everyday life, phenomenological understanding of everyday life to critical theories of everyday life with the emphasis on the analysis of the role of social structures and institutions in the construction of everyday life (the issue of social order, breaking of order and rules, daily rituals and routines, etc.). In the analysis of key phenomena and aspects of everyday life, the special emphasis is put on critical reflection of social changes in Western late-modern societies (e.g. the process of reflexive modernisation) and their implications for everyday life.
