The course will be organised in the following topics: a) Introduction to Media Audiences: early audience research/effects tradition; the transformation of media consumption in digital culture b) Agenda setting and framing c) Uses and gratifications tradition d) Cultural Indicators & Cultivation theory e) Reception studies/Gender and Domesticity f) Sociology of cultural consumption g) Commercial audience research and the role of media industry h) New Media Audiences, cultural fragmentation and privatisation of media technology.
