Short content

The course focuses on the introduction of theoretical approaches within the studies of everyday life and gender, with special attention on the analysis of the selected topics, especially from the field of the gendered construction of every day life. Being placed between micro and macro sociological analysis, studies of everyday life focus on analysis of the roles of social structures and institutions in the processes of gendering in everyday life, and at the same time on the subversive agency within the frame of everyday life at the micro level. Through the selected topics, special attention is paid on critical reflection and non-deterministic understanding of social structures in relation to social actors. The key selected topics: the processes of gendering in everyday life, specifically in relation to sexuality, gender-ed and sexual identities, emotions, care, bio-politics and everyday life, reproduction, intimacy and partnership, body in everyday life, gendered and gendering division of labour, gendered construction of everyday time, practices of resistance of social actors on the level of everyday life; key theoretical approaches in studies of everyday life and gender; research on everyday life.
