Short content
This course is based on the assumption that we are living in era of continous technological innovations, which enable and drive many changes on levels of human society, organization and individual. Informatio-communication technologies (ICTs) are changing the ways of how we read, hear, see and use information and have significant impact on fields of politics, economy, culture and also language. This course is primarily focused on the impacts of ICTs on society and individual and also with impacts of society on ICTs. Students gain knowledge of main theories that consider micro, mezzo and macro perspectives of appropriating new ICTs, their uses and consequences.
Students will among others gain knowledge on the following perspectives: technological determinisim, utopianism, social construction of technologies, social informacis, actor-network theory, theories of information society. On the basis of chosen theoretical perspectives an application will be made on specific relevant, ICT-related phenomena.
