The course addresses the following topics:
history of survey research, traditional and computer assisted methods, modern trends;
terminology, typology, survey modes (face-to-face, telephone, self-administered);
phases of survey process: pre-fielding (survey mode, sampling, questionnaire development, technical aspects, non-response strategy, management), data collection (contacting, measurement, processing, monitoring) and post-survey activities (data preparation, analysis, exporting, archiving);
step by step implementation of the entire process for the selected survey;
conceptualization of research problem and corresponding nesting of the survey research process;
quality of survey data (concepts TQM, MSE, TSE, specifics of mixed modes);
topics in self-administrated surveys using mobile phones;
online panels;
resources, profession, ethics and standards;
automation of the survey process:
software support and tools;
integrated information-communication technology support for all phases of the survey research process;
integration with quantitative data (experiments, para-data, non-reactive data, secondary data), with qualitative research and with administrative processes;
overview of the alternatives to survey research (qualitative research, expert opinion, secondary data, big data, data mining, business intelligence).
