Short content
The course investigates central issues in social theory as it relates to questions of media, communication and culture. We will particularly focus on the question of mediatization of social life. The likely topic will serve as case studies of contemporary media culture and will include cultural aspects of social media, reality television, personalization of news and the changing discourse of news genre, celebrity discourse, celebrity and spectacle, scandal and moral panic in the media. In general we will be interested into the the synergy between consumer culture and media culture and social consequences of the radical mediatization of the social.
