Short content

Media and popular cultural texts become primary forces in the shaping of collective memory in contemporary societies and play a key role in representing the past to the masses of people. The course analyzes the ways in which these texts and practices represent history and how they manage with it. We will deal with various communication forms as means of representation and construction of the past and in addition to media texts (from popular and classical literature, films, documentaries journalistic texts, music, comics and posters to the popular series) we will also discuss the meaning of oral tradition, commemorative ceremonies, rituals and body practices, monuments and museums.
