Short content
The course deals with discourses on food and food consumption practices. The course frames the notion of discourse as a wide variety of visual, audio and textual texts, which may be transmitted through media (radio, TV, print, film), but may also arise from political or policy practices and texts (government recommendations, policy and the national authorities recommendations, campaigns etc.), advertising practices, online media (social networks, blogs, platforms and portals, online communities, etc.), film and other artifacts of popular culture as well as discourses that might be found in data collected through qualitative methods (narratives, biographies, interviews, focus groups). The curse aims to highlight the links between the discourses of food and some other important social categories such as: gender, nationality / ethnicity, economic class identity / subjectivity, health, consumption and structures, especially ideological-political and social.
