The main objective of the course is to reevaluate mostly implicit and/or discursive conventions of mediating gender signifiers through language. Language is analysed as a socio-political phenomenon that is socially embedded and structures other social phenomena. Language shapes interrelated discourses of gender and social power. Topics: construction of gender politics through language: gendered language of media and politics; gendered language of growing up and education: formation of gender identities; gendered language of work and organisational power; gendered language of art and science; gendered language of everyday life; language changes and resistance
