Guest Lectures by Assoc. Prof Dr Nemanja Džuverović from University of Belgrade in celebration of Erasmus days 2020

Chair of IR has with great pleasure organized two activities within this year’s Erasmus days. Two guest lectures by Assoc. Prof Dr Nemanja Džuverović, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Political Sciences, took place within courses organized for home students and Erasmus exchange students.

On Monday, 19 October, the Guest lectured in the Master programme of European Studies within a course Politics of European Integration. The guest titled his contribution “The role of the EU in peacebuilding and statebuilding in the (Western) Balkans.” The lecture was based on critical theoretical approach to the role and effect of external actors in post-conflict areas, and engaged a 13-student audience in an animated debate especially on the role of EU in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The second lecture took place within the undergraduate programme International Relations on Wednesday, 21 October with 20 students. Members of Chair of IR and one alumna of the programme also joined in. In a course titled “Current Issues in the International Community”, Dr Džuverović presented his co-authored recently published scientific research on “Reconciliation challenges in the post-Yugoslav area” and spurred a lively debate on the issue among highly international student audience.

Both lectures were conducted remotely via videoconference. This new setting of university education did not hold the students back in their interest to actively participate. To the contrary, as the lectures provided opportunity for an informative interdisciplinary debate for theory lovers and also for the empirically well versed, the sessions were an excellent experience for home and Erasmus exchange students.
