Slovenian Political Science Day 2023

We cordially invite you to the conference “Politics in the age of extremes”, which will take place on December 7, 2023 at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The Slovenian Political Science Day, which is organized by the Slovenian Political Science Association and the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences, will take place on December 7, 2023, in Ljubljana at the Faculty of Social Sciences. At this year's meeting, we will discuss the political, social, economic and security dimensions of the multifaceted crises of the 21st century. Recurring economic crises, neoliberal policies, aggravation of the environmental crisis, geopolitical rivalries, pandemics, wars, the rise of neo-fascisms and illiberal political regimes in the first three decades of the 21st century show that the announcement of the 'end of history' was issued too early. Instead, we can talk about the 'age of extremes', which is characteristic of both the national political community and the international environment, about the crisis state of the international liberal order and the high level of uncertainty undermining of the existing political-economic order. 

The annual meeting will be an opportunity to reflect on the age of extremes and permanent crises, to exchange views and positions on the aforementioned challenges. We invite all interested researchers, pedagogues, doctoral students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, interested civil society organizations, members of the FDV and UL Alumni to participate in the meeting with their contributions. We particularly welcome theoretical reflections and empirical research as well as critical, interdisciplinary, and reflexive approaches to the topic.

All interested can send a proposal for a panel/round table and/or paper by October 15, 2023, to melika.mahmutovic@fdv.uni-lj.si.

We hope to see as many of you as possible on December 7 and address the key problems and challenges of politics in the 21st century in the age of extremes.
