An International conference celebrating 60 years of teaching and researching International Relations in Slovenia
Ljubljana, 8 and 9 October 2021 (hybrid)
Welcome Message by Professor Zlatko Šabič, Programme Chair
Welcome to our IR-60 Slovenia Conference page! We hope you will be able to attend the conference that will celebrate the long tradition of teaching and studying international relations in our small country on the sunny side of the Alps.
On this occasion, prominent current and former professors who have contributed to the developing of the discipline in Slovenia will participate in the conference. In addition, beside panellists from all over the world we will welcome the highest representatives of all three major academic associations for the study of international relations: ISA, EISA, in CEEISA, with which members of the IR community in Slovenia have been closely associated in many capacities for decades. In this respect, we are particularly proud to share the stage and partnership with the CEEISA, which since its creation in the 1990s has been an integral part of the IR community in Slovenia, and vice versa.
This conference aims to capture, and critically reflect on, both the past and the present, in the light of the challenges that the world has overcome or is yet to overcome. We expect many lively debates during these two debates, hoping to shed some more light in making sense of the world today.
We are proud to announce two keynote speakers who will reflect on the title of the conference:
Professor Bojko Bučar, University of Ljubljana
Professor Stefano Guzzini, Uppsala University
It is with particularly great pride for us to announce that the conference will be addressed by HE Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, who will honour us with his thoughts on this important milestone for the Slovenian history.
