Round table debate Nato and the Western Balkans
Roundtable will be held on December 12, 2024, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kardeljeva ploščad 5 in Grand Hall at 14.00. The conversation will be led by Borut Pahor, founder and director of the Friends of the Western Balkans, President of the Republic of Slovenia 2012-2022, with the guests
- dr. Stevo Pendarovski, President of North Macedonia 2019-2024
- dr. Milica Pejanović Djurišić, Minister of Defense of Montenegro 2012-2016 and President of the Atlantic Council of Montenegro
- Pellumb Qazimi, Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces 2000-2006, Ambassador of Albania to Slovenija 2012-2023.
The welcome address will be given by the dean prof. dr. Iztok Prezelj, the president of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia.
The aim of the roundtable is a thorough reflection of the political and security situation of Western Balkans, especially in the framework of present geopolitical situation in Europe and the world. Special attention will be paid to the importance of enlargement of NATO to Western Balkans as one of the most important pillars of peace and security in the region. We would like to exchange views on experiences of three countries of the region already members of NATO, and the perspective of enlargement of NATO to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
