On 21st and 23rd March 2018, the Japanese Studies and EARL organised a series of special lectures focused on Japanese economics and business environment, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

On 25 January 2018, the Ambassador of Korea, H.E. Mr Dong-ik Shin was on a formal visit to Slovenia, and on that occasion, the Korean delegation also visited the EARL. It was welcomed by Prof. Monika Kalin-Golob, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Roman Kuhar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and the EARL Management Board representatives.

Nina Pejič attended the International Youth Forum on the Belt and Road between 28-29th December 2017, organized by the Zhejiang University Academy of International Strategy and Law and International Academy of Belt and Road in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.

On 17 January 2018, Professor Zlatko Šabič, DG of the EARL, was in Tokyo, where he had an honour to be met by the President of the Japan Foundation, Mr Hiroyasu Ando.

EARL hosted two lecturers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chikako Shigemori Bučar and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nataša Visočnik from Department of Asian Studies, University of Ljubljana Faculty of Arts.

His Excellency, Mr Dong-ik Shin will be visiting Slovenia. On that occasion the Korean delegation will pay a visit to Faculty for Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, where they will have a look at Korean corner in EARL and meet the deans of both faculties.

On 18 December, dr. Zlatko Šabič, Director General of the EARL, met with dr. Shu-hsien Tseng, Director-General of the National Central Library's Center for Chinese Studies. He updated her on developments in the EARL since the opening of the Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS) on 24 May this year.

On Tuesday, 12 December 2017, Dr. Linas Didvalis from the Centre for Asian Studies, Vytautas Magnus University gave a lecture on Japan’s role in advancing regional forest governance in Southeast Asia.

On 26 November, dr. Zlatko Šabič, Director General of the EARL, travelled to Seoul to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. He met with Ambassador for Public Diplomacy, Ms Enna Park.

On Wednesday, 29 November 2017, the Faculty of Social Sciences hosted the event celebrating 25th Anniversary of Indonesia - Slovenia Bilateral Relations, co-organised by the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Slovenia.
