  • Redni profesor za področje politologije na Fakulteti za družbene vede in nosilec predmetov Politični sistem Republike Slovenije, Uvod v javno upravo, Upravni personal, Politika birokracije in Lokalna samouprava, sonosilec predmeta Primerjalni federalizem in regionalizem, ter na drugostopenjskem študiju pa nosilec predmeta Upravni in politični menedžment. V obdobju od 2005 do 2007 in ponovno od 2013 naprej predstojnik Oddelka za politologijo, od 2007 do 2011 pa Katedre za analizo politik in javno upravo na Fakulteti za družbene vede Univerze v Ljubljani. Od 1999 do 2009 generalni sekretar Slovenskega politološkega društva, od 2009 do 2011 predsednik, od 2011 do 2013 pa podpredsednik Slovenskega politološkega društva. Od oktobra 2012 naprej podpredsednik Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA). Nosilec predmeta “Decentralized and Local Administration in Europe Compared (III)« na mednarodnem podiplomskem programu na Univerzi v Trentu. Gostujoči profesor in raziskovalec na Baptistični univerzi v Hong Kongu (januar 2005, januar 2007), South Dakota State University (september 2009 in april 2010) in na Hughes Hallu v Cambridgu (julij 2001).
